After investing into a large warehouse, I learned about the importance of pallet racking systems.
- Pallet racks are a modern storage opportunity.
The systems are designed specifically to accommodate large distribution centers, factories and warehouses. My efforts to elevate the efficiency of the warehouse centered around pallet racks. The set up promotes greater productivity and accessibility. As I researched, I came across multiple types of racking systems. I looked at drive-in units, push-back rack systems and structural steel selective pallet rack systems. Choosing the right pallet racking system was essential to streamlining day-to-day operations. Employing these systems reduced expenses, labor and time required to run the warehouse. Plus, I was able to integrate the pallet racking system with the warehouse management software. With this upgrade, I improved order fulfillment and the tracking of vital data points. The design of a pallet rack storage setup incorporates upright columns linked by horizontal steel beams. This structure supports palletized products of all shapes, sizes and weights. Constructed from structural steel or roll formed steel, the components are extremely strong and durable. A structural steel pallet rack is able to support major load capacities. A roll formed steel pallet rack is advantageous due to simple assembly and long term value. In most cases pallets are retrieved via forklift trucks and various specialized equipment. Along with functional selective pallet rack systems, there are more complex systems for different demands and applications. One of the main reasons for introducing pallet racks into the warehouse setting is to maximize square footage. This racking system utilizes vertical storage space.
